How to use the loan and deposit calculators

Loan EMI: Enter the loan amount, annual interest rate and repayment tenure. The calculation assumes a fixed interest rate and equal monthly instalments. The repayment schedule separates principal and interest for each year.

Fixed deposit: Enter a one-time deposit, annual rate and term. The estimate uses quarterly compounding, common for cumulative Indian bank FDs. The example rate is illustrative, not a current bank offer.

Recurring deposit: Enter the monthly contribution, annual rate and saving period. The estimate assumes deposits at the beginning of each month and a monthly equivalent of quarterly compounding. Actual RD interest can vary by bank and deposit dates.

Frequently asked questions

What is an EMI?

EMI means equated monthly instalment. It is the regular payment used to repay a loan’s principal and interest over an agreed term. For a fixed-rate loan, the monthly rate is the annual percentage rate divided by 12, and the number of payments is the tenure in months.

How is FD maturity calculated?

For a cumulative FD with quarterly compounding, the estimate is principal × (1 + annual rate ÷ 4)(4 × years). Actual maturity depends on the bank’s product, rate, dates and tax treatment.

Does this calculator show live bank interest rates?

No. Interest rates are entered manually and can change. Always check the lender’s or bank’s official terms, charges and final repayment or maturity schedule before making a decision.
